Salon Owners - Christy & Greg
People often ask "where did the name Peter Salter come from?"
Well there is actually a really moving story behind the name...
It started as a long-time idea that got brought into reality after dealing with a life-threatening illness.
Peter Salter opened in 2013 with a passion and drive for a pure, organic salon for everyone’s hair in everyday living, providing healthier choices and healthier lifestyles.
The name Peter Salter came from our founder Tammy Carter. Her two son’s middle names are ‘Peter’ and ‘Salter’ so the name holds a lot of meaning for Greg & Christy and is now a living memory for them as Tammy passed away in 2015.
Today, Christy and Greg don’t just keep the vision of a
'healthy and organic hair haven’ alive but they also seek for continuous improvement in products and ingredients.
While working in the IT industry and Government, Christy & Greg are the accounting & creative brain behind Peter Salter and have a huge passion for organic hair care & sustainability.
attention to detail
Our owners put a lot of thought and care into seeking out
the best organic hair care & sustainabilty for you.
Our Main Product Range
The French products from
Angel En Provence
have been an essential part of the shampoo & styling range
from the beginning and since 2018.
Peter Salter started a partnership with Sustainable Salons in 2019.
The thought behind this was, to now also think about the amount of waste a salon creates and how to "recycle" this in a better way.
Our Organic Colour & Product Range
Peter Salter uses the beautiful Australian made De Lorenzo colour range
for organic and
vegan certified colours.

Salon Manager & Senior Stylist
Jen started her hairdressing career in 2007 and has worked internationally as well as passing 23 additional qualifications within hairdressing. It is safe to say that she loves and breathes the industry.
Jen has found her special passion in colour correction – but also – needless to say – in blonde tones and styles.
Since March 2020 Jen has also become an International Organic Master Colourist along with only 7 others in New Zealand! Education has always played a huge part in keeping her inspired but most importantly it benefits her clients - being able to offer them something different.
Besides all that Jen also cuts hair for the homeless at Auckland City Mission with Sustainable Salons and was able to participate at the International Homeless Day in 2019.
Senior Stylist - Full Time
Liz has been in the industry since 2010 and has a great passion for creativity which certainly is a must when it comes to hairdressing.
She is such an asset to the Peter Salter Team because what inspires Liz most about hairdressing is her clients. She loves getting to know them, being able to give them a listening ear and making them feel new again.
Quote "There is nothing better than a happy client".
Not only is client care of great importance to Liz but she is also highly skilled in all things hair, especially 'the classics', short cuts and a great cut and colour that you will love 6 weeks after your appointment.
Senior Stylist - Part Time
Bianca was captivated by the vision of Peter Salter and has a passion for all things creative. She is an award-winning senior stylist with over 18 years’ experience in hairdressing.
She is a curl specialist but loves all hair types. She enjoys teaching her clients how to get the best from their hair and make it something they love every day. Her flair for creativity will ensure that you leave the salon with a hairstyle that is uniquely you.
However, Bianca’s background in competition work is what ignited a passion for creative colour. This led to her getting extensive training in the latest trends and techniques, diving deep into colour work, developing the technical skills required to produce great results all the while giving clients real luxury care.
Ella is our emerging stylist and is currently the newest addition to our Peter Salter team.
Our beautiful Greenhithe village stood out to her being that she comes from a small town in the Waikato called Te Awamutu.
She is a very confident, talented stylist that always takes extra care with all her clients. She goes above and beyond to create the perfect look.
Her love for fashion and hair is infectious that you are likely to not only leave the salon with a great new look but also a new outlook.
